Nassau Community College consolidates departments

Nassau Community College is overhauling its academic structure. The Long Island institution plans to consolidate 21 academic departments into six departments this coming fall. The college’s leaders say the move is necessary for the long-term financial health of the institution. But faculty union officials believe it will weaken academic quality.
