Louisiana's most — and least — Irish parish, based on Census data

We might all be Irish on St. Patrick's Day, but the reality is only 5.7% of Orleans Parish residents have Irish ancestry, according to the U.S. Census.

The big picture: The United States had an average Irish ancestry of 9.5% in 2022.
• New England and New York have significantly higher numbers, while Southern states are the least Irish.
