Transgender athlete takes first place in women's NYC cycling race

A transgender athlete took first place this weekend in an amateur New York City female cycling race. Tiffany Thomas, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, is affiliated with Los Angeles women's cycling group LA Sweat and stood between two biological women atop the winner's podium for the Randall's Island Crit. "Tiffany is a scientist by day, athlete by night. Her favorite organ are the blood cells," according to LA Sweat.
