Local players taking part in Elite Eight for Minnesota State, Mankato basketball teams

The Minnesota State University, Mankato men’s and women’s basketball teams that have advanced to the Elite Eight of the Division II NCAA National Tournaments both feature local players. Brady Williams, a Dover-Eyota grad, and Goodhue’s Will Opsahl are members of the Minnesota State men’s team. The host Mavericks advanced by winning the NCAA Central Region Tournament Championship 43-42 over Northwest Missouri State. Eljiah Hazekamp hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
