Professors and historians call for withdrawal of ‘1619 Project’ Pulitzer Prize

An open letter released Tuesday is calling on the Pulitzer Prize Board to revoke its 2020 award for commentary to Nikole Hannah-Jones for her contributions to “The 1619 Project” written by The New York Times – in which the “true founding” of America is claimed to be built on the enslavement of African Americans.

Twenty-one scholars and public writers signed the letter posted on the National Association of Scholars website in support of rescinding the award.
