Harris County to receive more hazardous waste from Ohio trail derailment site, Hidalgo says

A Harris County waste disposal site will continue receiving hazardous liquid from the East Palestine, Ohio derailment site, County Judge Lina Hidalgo's office confirmed Tuesday. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency briefly paused shipments from the site after concerns were raised by some Houston-area officials. U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, announced Monday the waste no longer would be headed, for now, to Harris County, a reprieve that appears to have been short-lived.
