London stocks boosted by strong corporate results

April 18 (Reuters) - British stocks opened higher on Thursday, boosted by a string of upbeat corporate results, while investors await comments from Bank of England policymaker Megan Greene to gauge the outlook on interest rates. The resource-heavy FTSE 100 (.FTSE) had gained 0.4% by 7:10 GMT and the mid-cap FTSE 250 (.FTMC) was up 0.1%. The pound against the dollar appreciated by 0.1%.
