D.C. Fire responded to a blaze Thursday morning that erupted on the eighth floor of a nine-story apartment building that houses mostly senior citizens, officials said. Several people in the building required medical care, including one found in a search of the unit where the fire broke out. DC Fire spokesman Vito Maggiolo said firefighters were dispatched at 8:35 a.m. to 1222 M St. NW.
