Iowa seeks to extend Medicaid for pregnant women
(ABC 6 News) – Iowa lawmakers look to extend Medicaid payments for low-income pregnant women and infants.
Right now, people who give birth in Iowa get 60 days of postpartum Medicaid coverage.
Under the new bill, that period would be extended to one year.
To qualify, a person’s income must be below 215% the federal poverty level.
If the legislation passes, the extension would take effect January 2024.
