BOONTON, NJ — A Morris County police captain who lives in Toms River has been charged with tampering with public records, after authorities say he stole his internal affairs records and computer equipment with the data from his police department, the state Attorney General's office said Wednesday. Stephen Jones, 42, of Toms River, was charged Wednesday in connection with the April 2022 theft, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
