Gunman Remains at Large After Killing 5 in 'Execution Style' TX Shooting

Five were killed in a shooting in Cleveland, Texas that reportedly resulted from a confrontation between a family and an intoxicated neighbor.

The Details: The suspect, a Mexican national named Francisco Oropeza, was reportedly known to shoot guns in his yard frequently. Friday night he was allegedly doing so when neighbors complained it was a disturbance to their young baby who was trying to sleep. The suspect, who reportedly was visibly drunk, said “l’ll do what I want to in my front yard,” before entering the neighbors’ home and shooting five, including an eight-year-old, in the head. He remains at-large, and the hunt for him continued into Monday with over 200 officers from multiple departments.

For Context: Authorities believed 15 people lived in the house together, and all five victims were Honduran. Some were found laying on top of uninjured children, which authorities believe was done in an effort to protect them. An interviewed resident said overnight gunfire is common in the neighborhood, and she did not know the shooter, but “would wave to him when he would pass by with his horses.”
