Gallup Names Donald Trump and Michelle Obama as 2020's Most Admired Man and Woman

President Donald Trump and former first lady Michelle Obama were America’s most admired man and woman in 2020, Gallup found in its annual survey. This breaks former President Barack Obama’s 12-year streak as most admired man and continues Michelle Obama’s 3-year run as most admired woman. Gallup found that 18% of respondents most admired Trump, 15% most admired Barack Obama, and 10% most admired Michelle Obama. Gallup also found that responses for Trump and Obama were politically polarized, with Democrats also admiring President-elect Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci more than Republicans. Outlets from across the spectrum featured coverage of Trump and Barack Obama more prominently than coverage of Michelle Obama. Coverage was more common in right- and center-rated outlets than in left-rated outlets. Coverage from right-rated media was more likely to focus on Trump “dethroning” Obama than coverage from left-rated sources.
