Weather alert issued for strong thunderstorms in Calhoun and Talladega counties Saturday morning

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 7:33 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 8 a.m. for Calhoun and Talladega counties. Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 40 mph. "At 7:32 a.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Neely Henry Lake to near Alpine Bay Resort. Movement was east at 30 mph," states the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
