Severe thunderstorms were knocking down trees and power lines across the region Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service’s Boston office had issued a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” for the Boston-area, as the storms brought 60 mph wind gusts and torrential rain. “Several reports of downed trees and powerlines have been reported between 125 and 130 PM in the towns of Cambridge, Arlington and Medford,” NWS wrote. “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the agency added.
