Penny-sized hail expected with thunderstorms in North Alabama Saturday

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 6:23 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 7 a.m. for Morgan, Marshall and Cullman counties. The storms may bring penny-sized hail (0.75 inches) and wind gusts of up to 55 mph. "At 6:22 a.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Holly Pond, or 7 miles northwest of Blountsville, moving east at 35 mph," states the weather service.
