A winter storm over Montana brought a glut of nasty weather Thursday, with the National Weather Service warning of excessive rain, snow and rising rivers. By Thursday afternoon, the state Department of Transportation had warnings of wet and icy asphalt for a swath of roadways running from Butte to Laurel. In Carbon County, conditions became so hazardous that the department shut down State Highway 308, which connects Red Lodge to Belfry.
