Patricia Alonzo of New Tampa, a professional sign language interpreter and Democratic Party volunteer worker, has filed to challenge Republican Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan. Alonzo, 49, who now works as an interpreter at Moffitt Cancer Center, is a first-time candidate for public office, but said she’s been involved as a volunteer in campaign work since growing up in Chicago.
