Dozens of UT-Austin protesters released from jail

Nearly all of the charges were for criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, alleging protesters failed to heed warnings to disperse. A magistrate judge rejected the charges because the charging documents were not specific about how the protesters were notified to leave, said Austin criminal defense attorney George Lobb, who was representing some of them. Earlier on Thursday, a crowd of about two dozen people gathered outside the county jail cheering each time a protester walked out the glass doors.
