Derek Chauvin pleads guilty in federal civil rights case

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted in the death of George Floyd, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in the federal civil rights case against him.

Chauvin, wearing an orange jumpsuit, signed a plea agreement and changed his plea to guilty during a Wednesday morning hearing in the U.S. District Court in St. Paul, CBS Minnesota reported.  

The federal charges were brought by the Justice Department in May, several weeks after Chauvin was convicted in state court on murder and manslaughter charges in the killing that prompted worldwide protests for racial justice...
