Trump Wins Nevada GOP Caucuses

Summary from the AllSides News Team

As expected, former President Donald Trump won Nevada’s GOP caucuses, gaining the state’s 26 convention delegates; Texas pastor Ryan Binkley came in a distant second.

Primary vs. Caucus: Nevada held state-run primary elections on Tuesday, but the Nevada GOP also held its own caucus on Thursday, allowing candidates to select which to participate in. Haley chose the primary, while Trump chose the caucus. There were no delegates up for grabs in the Republican primary, only in the caucus. On Tuesday, Haley lost the Nevada Republican primary to “None of These Candidates,” which received 61.2% to Haley’s 32.4%.

How the Media Covered It: While most mainstream news outlets covered the Nevada GOP caucuses, coverage was often overshadowed by news about the Supreme Court and President Joe Biden.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump easily won the U.S. Virgin Islands caucuses, adding four...

Donald Trump won Nevada’s Republican presidential caucuses Thursday, CNN projects, a victory that was effectively guaranteed when his lone remaining well-known rival, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, chose not to compete for the state’s delegates.

The former president has now won all three Republican contests so far — adding the Silver State to Iowa and New Hampshire — as he moves closer to the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination.

Thursday’s caucuses in Nevada came two days after the state held primaries — with President Joe Biden dominating the Democratic contest and...
