Weather alert issued for strong thunderstorms in North Alabama early Sunday evening

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:57 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 5:30 p.m. for Lawrence, Morgan, Marshall and Cullman counties. Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 50 mph. "At 4:57 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Inmanfield to near Blountsville. Movement was northeast at 20 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
