California sees record-high health insurance sign-ups, record-low uninsured rate

A record number of Californians have signed up for health insurance through Covered California, the state insurance marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act, the 2010 federal law also known as Obamacare. Nearly 1.8 million people enrolled in Covered California plans during the most recent open enrollment period from November 2023 to February, according to Covered California. That marks the highest enrollment since the ACA took effect in California in 2014, and mirrors the nationwide record-high 20.5 million Americans who enrolled in plans through insurance marketplaces in all 50 states...
