Two candidates advance to runoff in 24th Judicial District Court race in Jefferson Parish

Lindsey Valenti and Jacqueline "Jackie" Maloney advanced to a runoff in Saturday's election for the Division D seat on the 24th Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish.
With all 162 precincts reporting, Valenti received 39% of the vote to Maloney's 37%. "Jerry" Smith secured 24% of the vote.
The runoff between the two Republicans is scheduled for April 27.
The position — which oversees a trial court docket that includes criminal, civil and domestic cases — is chosen by voters on the parish’s east bank, excluding south Kenner.
