Real estate company has big plans for site of former Walmart in Downtown Honolulu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Avalon Group is taking over the old Walmart space in Downtown Honolulu. The Honolulu company, led by Christine Camp, bought the nearly 100,000 square foot retail space on South King Street for $38.25 million. Avalon Group is already building HPU’s Natural and Computational Sciences center next door. Camp aims to create a community gathering place that includes businesses, a dog park, a pickleball center and as many as one hundred residential units above the parking garage. “We’re looking at maybe a mixed market and affordable,” said Camp....
