RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Five inches of snow have already fallen in parts of the North Carolina mountains by Monday afternoon as a winter storm warning continues with up to 8 inches of snow expected by the end of the warning Tuesday morning. The most snow so far Monday was 5 inches at 3:15 p.m. a mile north-northwest of Beech Mountain in Watauga County, according to the National Weather Service.
