New Jersey political leaders, including Governor Phil Murphy call on Senator Robert Menendez to step down

In light of a second federal indictment on corruption-related charges against New Jersey’s sitting U.S. Senator, officials are calling for him to resign his post, though many waited for the close of business on Friday to do so. News broke Friday morning of the indictment, and calls for him to step down were almost immediate from Republicans, unsurprisingly, but high-profile Democrats issued statements that were sent out as most of them are leaving for the weekend.
