Senate Passes Bill Securing 9/11 Compensation Fund

The Senate approved legislation that would extend funding to cover claims by victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks for the rest of their lives, clearing the last legislative hurdle before the bill goes to President Trump’s desk.
The bipartisan bill passed Tuesday on a vote of 97-2, with two Republicans, Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky, voting against it. Both men had offered amendments to the bill aimed at reining in the financing, but neither passed.
