Trump Legal Team Challenges Potential Subpoena in Russia Probe
Summary from the AllSides News Team
President Trump's legal team sent a letter to special counsel Robert Mueller saying that Trump is not compelled to testify if subpoenaed, and that he could not have obstructed justice since he "has Constitutional authority to direct the Justice Department to open or close an investigation, and, of course, the power to pardon any person before, during, or after an investigation and/or conviction.” Trump's head lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has said he will challenge any subpoena in court.
