What’s the Status of the Biden Impeachment Probe?

Summary from the AllSides News Team

What is the status of Rep. James Comer’s (R-KY) impeachment probe into President Joe Biden conducted by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee?

“Wrap It Up”: Appearing on a podcast this week, Comer said he wants to “wrap it up as soon as possible.” Comer claimed the probe has found that “not only were there crimes committed, but there’s a coverup at the highest levels of the government.” Comer added, “We have mountains of evidence and now we’re ready to bring ‘em in.”

Pseudonym Emails: During his time as Vice President, Biden potentially sent and received roughly 82,000 pages of emails through accounts not bearing his name, according to a filing by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Some House Republicans are pointing to this as potential evidence of corruption, and are pushing for unredacted copies of the emails to be released. White House Spokesman Ian Sams defended the use of a pseudonym, writing on X, “government leaders for decades have used aliases to avoid spam & hacking.”

China-Linked Payments: Comer is also claiming that Biden received laundered money from a Chinese company, stating, “not only did he lie about his son Hunter making money in China, but it also turns out that $40,000 in laundered China money landed in Joe Biden’s bank account in the form of a personal check. And the Oversight Committee has it.” The check is signed by Biden’s sister-in-law Sara Biden and states it’s for “loan repayment.” The Committee disputes this.
