Gas blast at children's hospital in Mexico City leaves at least 2 dead; truck driver detainedA gas tank truck exploded outside a maternity and children's hospital in Mexico City on Thursday morning, leaving much of it in ruins.
At least two people were killed and 56 injured, said Claudia Dominguez, spokeswoman for Mexico City's civil defense agency. Officials earlier had said at least four and as many as seven had been killed at the explosion site at the Maternity Hospital of Cuajimalpa, according to the Mexican newspaper El Universal

A total of 54 people were wounded, officials said, including 22 children, at the Hospital Materno Infantil on the western outskirts of the city. Mayor Miguel Mancera said most of the injuries were minor, while Luis Felipe Puente, the city’s civil defense director, said about 20 children were taken to hospitals for burn injuries of varying severity.

60 Hurt in Mexico Hospital Gas BlastA children’s hospital in Mexico City was nearly leveled when a gasoline tanker truck exploded Thursday, killing at least two. More than 60 people were injured in the blast, the mayor said. An unknown number of people are also trapped, but there are concerns that adults and babies are beneath the debris. The accident is believed to have occurred after a hose burst when the truck was supplying natural gas to the hospital. Firefighters were trying to control a leak in the hose when the explosion occurred.
