Quick decisions: Nine area legislative races decided by June primaries

In Oklahoma, more elections are decided between April 1 and the end of June than ever make it to November. Besides regular school and municipal elections, April of even-numbered years brings filing for state and federal offices. A large share of those races — 50 of 133 this year — end without ever really starting, won by unopposed candidates. Of the rest, many go no further than the June party primaries.
