Smotrich backtracks order to cut down settler-planted trees in West Bank

The Civil Administration, Israel's governing body in the West Bank, headed by far-right Minister Bezalel Smotrich, approved the removal of hundreds of trees planted on privately owned Palestinian land on Thursday. After the uprooting began, Smotrich reversed his decision under pressure from right-wing groups, including members of his own party.
