Candidate filing closes in Montana; ballots set for June

The deadline for candidates to file for office in Montana was Monday, setting the stage for what will be one of the most consequential election years in recent memory. By closing time, 444 candidates had filed for 174 offices, according to the secretary of state's website. The primary election is June 4 and the general is Nov. 5.
