Wildfire triggers evacuation for multiple parts of Texas Panhandle, forest service says

Multiple evacuations have been ordered in the Texas Panhandle as emergency crews battled wildfires in the area, officials say. For the past several days, emergency crews have responded to at least four wildfires in the panhandle, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Of those, the largest is the Hutchinson County “Smokehouse Creek Fire,” which as of about 4 p.m. Tuesday was 250,000 acres and 0% contained, the forest service said in a post to X, formerly known as Twitter.
