Amtrak extends suspension of train service through Tuesday morning

Amtrak has suspended its Seattle to Portland train service through Tuesday morning, following a landslide north of Vancouver that has disrupted travel this weekend. The slide south of Kelso blocked the railroad tracks early Saturday morning and triggered a 24-hour moratorium for all passenger trains per BNSF Railway rules, said Janet Matkin, a spokesperson for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Amtrak originally expected train service to resume at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. But it extended the suspension Sunday evening through 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. It expects tracks to reopen at that...
