U.S. Stocks Open Higher as Earnings Season Kicks Off

Global stocks rose Monday as investors turned their focus to major U.S. companies that will report earnings this week and offer guidance on the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on their operations.
The S&P 500 ticked up 0.8% in early U.S. trading, following a week that saw the benchmark climb almost 1.8% despite a surge in infections across parts of the country. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 219 points, or 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite, coming off a record close Friday, added 1.1%.
