Reid Tangles With GOP on Filibuster Changes

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) proposed a dramatic break with the chamber’s storied rules on Thursday, drawing sharp words from Republicans who vowed Democrats would rue the change.
Mr. Reid tangled with Republicans for more than an hour Thursday morning, engaging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) in a heated back-and-forth over his plans to bar the use of filibusters to stop certain confirmation votes, a change referred to as “the nuclear option” by lawmakers.
