Former Chicopee superintendent gets probation for lying to FBI about threats to police chief candidate

The city was in the process of hiring a new police chief in December 2021 when law enforcement learned that one of the candidates had been receiving threats intended to force them to withdraw their application for the position, prosecutors said. The candidate had received “numerous text messages from unknown numbers containing threats to expose information that would cause the victim reputational harm” that November, according to the statement.
