UAW votes to strike against Big Three

DETROIT, MI — The United Auto Workers union has voted to strike against the Big Three. The strike authorization was approved by 97% of the union, UAW President Shawn Fain announced on a Facebook Live on Friday, Aug. 25. The vote does not initiate a strike but approves it if an agreement cannot be reached during bargaining. The UAW represents about 150,000 workers across all three companies.
