The Tribune's recent climate article "West is in driest period in 1,200 years" begs the question why water regulators, private enterprise and state/ federal agencies can't collaboratively respond.
This country has the resources, technology, and ability to harness existing water sources to "flood" the Great Basin with enough water to mitigate the current drought trend. Dry islands such as Aruba rely on desalination to provide water. We can do the same.
