CNN Poll: 46% of Voters Would Prefer Any Republican Over Biden in '24

Summary from the AllSides News Team

A CNN (Lean Left bias) poll released Thursday suggests voters are broadly concerned about President Joe Biden's age, and would prefer if he didn't run for reelection in 2024.

The Details: Of the roughly 1,500 people polled, 49% said Biden's age was their top concern. Among likely Democratic voters, 67% want the party to nominate someone other than Biden; that figure was up from 54% in March, but down from the high of 75% last summer. And among all registered voters, 46% would prefer any Republican presidential nominee to Biden.

For Context: The poll results mirror others from last week, when an Associated Press (Lean Left bias) poll found that 77% of respondents think Biden is "too old to effectively serve another 4-year term as president," while 51% said the same about former president Donald Trump. According to FiveThirtyEight (Center bias), Biden's approval rating stands at 40%.

How the Media Covered it: Sources across the spectrum covered the poll, and framed it as a persistent issue for Biden. Some right-rated outlets focused on how voters are more concerned about Biden's age than Trump's even though Biden is only three years older.
