Battle heats up over 20 cell towers slated to go up along popular Jersey Shore beach

A group of Belmar residents is joining Monmouth County in a lawsuit to try to prevent Verizon Wireless from installing cell towers along the Jersey Shore borough’s beachfront. Verizon Wireless filed a federal lawsuit last year alleging Monmouth County officials unlawfully denied its application to install nine of the 20 cell towers the company wants to place along Ocean Avenue.
