Biden Outlines 'Safer America Plan'

President Joe Biden spoke in Pennsylvania Tuesday about gun safety, police funding and political polarization while detailing his Safer America Plan.

Biden said he is "determined to ban assault weapons in this country." His public safety plan includes bans on high-capacity magazines and certain types of rifles, including AR-15s. Biden also defended the FBI amid criticism of its Mar-a-Lago search, saying "it's sickening to see" attacks and threats against the agency "for simply carrying out the law and doing their job." Biden also said that "he's tired" of not giving police enough help, and that "when it comes to public safety in this nation, the answer is not to defund the police, it’s fund the police." He followed his FBI remarks by saying, "I’m opposed to defunding the police; I’m also opposed to defunding the FBI."
