Voters in California have approved Proposition 50 (Prop 50), the redistricting plan backed by Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom.
The Details: As of Tuesday night, more than 64% of voters were in favor of the proposal, which will allow California to replace the current boundaries drawn by the state's independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and to adopt a new congressional map. This map will give Democrats the chance to flip several Republican seats as they seek to gain a majority in the U.S. House after mid-term elections in 2026. The seats that could turn to Democrats include seats in Districts 1, 2, and 3, as well as other swing districts in California.
Key Quote: "We stood tall and we stood firm in response to Donald Trump's recklessness," Newsom said at a Tuesday briefing...
