Summary from the AllSides News Team
News outlets cited different polls to show former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris leading on the economy.
From the Right: Breitbart (Right bias) pointed to a new ABC News/ Ipsos poll suggesting 45% of voters trust Trump more on the economy, versus 37% saying they trust Harris more. It showed similar numbers on inflation, with 44% trusting Trump to improve prices and 36% trusting Harris.
From the Center: Reuters (Center bias) highlighted its poll, which showed similar results on the economy—46% for Trump, 38% for Harris.
From the Left: The Guardian (Lean Left) featured an Associated Press/ NORC poll: "The latest poll asked more detailed questions than the previous survey, concluding that 46% prefer Harris’s policies on taxes for the middle class, compared to 35% for Trump. The US vice-president also has a slight edge on the cost of housing, while voters are evenly split on which of the pair has the better policies on the prices of groceries and petrol, and creating jobs or addressing unemployment." The Economist (Lean Left) said "real (inflation adjusted) income, real consumption, unemployment, inflation and consumer sentiment" are all trending positively and voters are starting to notice, which is good news for Harris.
