Canada's political leaders have united to rally the country against President Trump in a brewing trade war after Prime Minister Mark Carney walked away from talks on Friday just hours before new 50 percent tariffs took effect.

Carney told reporters at a press conference in Ottawa that his government will "match Washington's new tariffs dollar for dollar." Retaliatory tariffs are set to take effect on Sept. 8.
