Over 24 hours after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's vulgar comments have sparked outrage from Democrats and Republicans alike, Trump's running mate JD Vance said he hadn't seen the joke and downplayed the comments — some of which were vulgar and included calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”
Vance told reporters at at his rally today in Wausau, Wisconsin, “maybe it’s a stupid racist joke” and “maybe it’s not” and would not comment on specifics until he had seen it. But in any case, he suggested perhaps Hinchcliffe's critics should lighten up.
