Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in several key battleground states, new polling shows.

The Details: Trump enjoys a significant lead in Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia, and narrower ones in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. All five states were won by Joe Biden in 2020. Voters said they trust Trump more on matters like the economy, immigration, national security, and the Israel-Hamas conflict, while trusting Biden more with abortion.

For Context: The polling was conducted by The New York Times (Lean Left bias) and Siena College. It found 59% of voters strongly or somewhat disapprove of Biden, and 67% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. Economic issues ranked the highest importance for voters at 57%. While 49% of voters said there’s hardly any chance they support Biden, 46% said the same of Trump. Trump polled higher in rural areas (60%) than Biden in urban ones (53%), and higher in urban areas (38%) than Biden did in rural ones (32%).
