Trump, Vance call on Congress to scrap budget bill, pass clean CR 'without Democrat giveaways'

President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance on Thursday slammed the continuing resolution before Congress and told Republicans to call Democrats' bluff on a government shutdown.

"The most foolish and inept thing ever done by Congressional Republicans was allowing our country to hit the debt ceiling in 2025. It was a mistake and is now something that must be addressed," the statement posted to Vance's X account reads.
