Some Vulnerable Republicans Are Ducking Out Of Trump's Midterm Convention

Several vulnerable Republicans plan to skip the party's unusual midterm convention in Dallas this week amid President Donald Trump's falling approval ratings and ongoing voter blowback on issues like his war on Iran and rising gas prices.

Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), as well as House Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), David Valadao (R-Calif.) and Tom Barrett (R-Mich.) will not attend. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), an incumbent in a solid Republican seat who's facing an independent challenger, also doesn't plan to go to the convention, according to The Hill.
